An affirmation is a statement of truth that we speak to ourselves or someone else. ‘I am’ affirmations from the Bible are based on truths God has declared about His children.

God loves every human being He created. Each of us shares the dignity of being created in His image (Genesis 1: 27). However, the Bible’s ‘I am’ affirmations are for those who have repented of their sins and turned to Jesus for forgiveness.

God loves you so very much, friend! He wants to have a personal relationship with you and give you a home in Heaven for eternity.

‘I AM’ BIBLE AFFIRMATIONS HELP US SEE OURSELVES ACCURATELY

God wants all of us to view ourselves accurately. He wants us to see ourselves as no more, but no less, than we really are (Romans 12:3), just as He sees us. After all, ‘I am’ affirmations are God’s views we must tell ourselves.

Remember, the Bible cautions all of us not to be prideful. A prideful spirit comes before destruction (Proverbs 16: 18). So, we never want to go there with pride.

In fact, the Bible especially teaches us humility about how we view ourselves in relation to God. He is the great I AM (Exodus 3:14), who is eternal, all-powerful, and rules over everything and everyone.

We are not.

Yet, at the same time, God doesn’t want us to have false humility either.

In Christ, I am still a sinner saved by grace. Yet I’m also a forgiven, dearly loved child of the King of the Universe!

We are fully equipped with all the strength in Christ that we could ever need to face absolutely any situation we find ourselves in. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

These ‘I am’ Bible affirmations are truths that we can and should speak to ourselves, especially when our enemy Satan tries to condemn us. Or when we feel like we don’t have what it takes to live the way God wants us to.

HOW TO USE ‘I AM’ BIBLE AFFIRMATIONS

There are so many different ways we can use biblical affirmations. For starters, choose one or two affirmations that apply to whatever you’ve been struggling with lately. For example, do you feel like you don’t have the strength to handle a situation right now? You’ll want to start with the “I am capable in Christ” affirmation right away! If you’re dealing with rejection from a friend or family member, you’ll want to focus on the “I am dearly loved” affirmation.

HOW TO MEDITATE ON ‘I AM’ AFFIRMATIONS

Meditate on the affirmations you’ve chosen often, especially the powerful Scripture that goes with it.

Meditating on God’s truth just means thinking about it for an extended time. Turning it over and over in your mind as you try to understand what it means. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you as you seek to understand and apply each truth to your heart and mind. God’s Word is so powerful! This is how real change in how we view ourselves happens.

As part of meditating on the truths you’ve chosen, you may want to write them out on a sticky note and put them on the mirror where you can see them.

Then, you might try speaking them to yourself in the morning as a way to strengthen your resolve that you have everything you need to face the day in Christ.

MORE WAYS TO MEDITATE ON ‘I AM’ AFFIRMATIONS FROM THE BIBLE

Be sure to deliberately bring your chosen affirmations to mind during the day as different situations come up, especially the ones that feel too hard to deal with.

You can also write them out in a journal. This is another great way to make them stick in your mind so they’re available when you need them most. Many people find writing out Scriptures in the evening before bed helps them wind down and prepare for a peaceful night.

I also highly recommend memorizing the Scriptures that accompany your chosen affirmations. I know Scripture memory can be hard for some, yet I’ve found that any effort I’ve put into memorizing God’s Word has been totally worth it—even if it does take some time.

However you decide to use these affirmations, remember they’re powerful life-changing truths because they’re rooted in Scripture, which is absolutely true:

These affirmations can help you see yourself for who you truly are in Jesus. They can help you shake the lies the enemy sends your way.
