Have you ever felt like the stronger your faith in God, the greater the devil’s urge to attack you? The Bible describes this as spiritual warfare – the battle between good and evil. As Christians, we may have experienced this at some point in our spiritual journey. The devil is after your faith, but the Bible is your strongest weapon against it.
Here are 18 Bible verses the devil hopes you never discover.
James 4:7 – Resisting the Devil

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
This is, perhaps, the most straightforward Bible verse about fighting evil through resistance. Resisting evil means resisting temptation, and ultimately, resisting sin. It may be easier said than done, but you can do it by prayer and submission to God.
Psalms 91:1-2 – God’s Protection

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
The greatest possible blessing that we can receive from God is His protection. To receive this, the verse calls us to humble ourselves and run to Him for refuge.
Romans 8:38-39 – God’s Constant Love

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God does not allow anything to separate us from His love, and the devil does not want you to be aware of that. Romans 8:38-39 is a reassurance that God’s love is constant and we can count on Him to be with us through anything and everything we face.
Revelation 12:10-11 – The Devil’s Defeat

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over Him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
The devil does not want you to discover Revelation 12:10-11 for it tells the story of his demise. Despite the evil’s efforts to accuse God’s followers and condemn them by pointing out their sins, those attempts failed miserably. Through faith in God, His followers were justified and redeemed.
1 Corinthians 10:13 – Winning Over Temptation

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
The devil will seize every chance to lead you into temptation, and it hopes you’ll never learn that God will not allow you to be tempted. His Spirit is always at work, and will never leave us to fight the battle alone.
1 John 1:9 – Confession and Forgiveness of Sin

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Committing a sin is inevitable, we are only humans after all. However, our sins would not automatically lead us to the devil. If we repent and confess our sins to God, our sins will be forgiven.
Romans 8:1 – Freedom from Condemnation

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
The good news is that although we have sinned, our faith in Jesus Christ will save us from condemnation. The devil fears that you’ll learn this.
Philippians 4:6-7 – The Power of Prayer

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
The devil will constantly bring worries and anxieties into our lives. It will not stop until we succumb to its influence and lose our peace in Christ. But the letter of Paul to the Philippians is a clear promise that if we pray to God and lift our worries to Him, He will grant peace into our hearts.
Romans 16:20 – Satan Will Fail and God Will Prevail

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”
God’s reassurance that He will crush Satan under our feet makes us confident that the devil will never win. This verse strengthens our faith in God’s power over evil.
John 1:5 – Light Shines in the Darkness

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
The darkness referenced in this verse can be associated with the devil, while the light symbolizes Jesus. This verse tells us that the devil will never win against the Son of God. He will continue to shine His light upon us and guide us to our path.
Romans 8:28 – All Things Work Together for Good

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
No matter how hard the devil works, it will never stand a chance against God’s goodness.
Luke 10:19 – God’s Empowerment

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
The devil does not want you to find out that God’s followers are given the authority to trample over Satan and evil. This authority shows us that we have been empowered by God to overcome any forces of darkness and stand firm in our faith.
2 Timothy 1:7 – No Reason to Fear

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
The devil plants fear and anxiety into our hearts, and if we focus on it, we will lose our ability to obey and follow Jesus. However, God did not give us any reason to fear for He has provided us with love, strength, and courage to overcome any challenge.
Jeremiah 29:11 – God is In Control

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The devil does not want you to know that God has already planned our future wherein we will thrive and succeed. This verse gives us comfort knowing that whatever challenges we are facing right now are part of God’s greater plan that ultimately leads to our prosperity.
1 John 3:8 – Destroy the Devil’s Work

“The one who does what is sinful is of the devil because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”
The devil is afraid that you’d find out the truth that Jesus, the Son of God came to defeat the devil.
1 Peter 5:8-9 – Spiritual Warfare

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
The devil will always look for a way to attack us like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. It attempts to damage our faith and shake our trust in God. This verse reminds us not to live in fear. Instead, we should stay vigilant and firm with our beliefs.
Ephesians 6:10-11 – The Armor God

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
The devil hopes you never discover that God has already given you the armor to fight against it, and your faith in Him gives you the strength to never falter.
Revelation 20:10 – Final Judgment of the Devil

“And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
The last thing the devil wants you to discover is that eternal punishment awaits those who lead others astray. This verse highlights God’s ultimate justice and the assurance that evil will be fully defeated.
