Man Will Fail You, But God Will Never

In a time not so long ago, but one that felt like a lifetime, I found myself working as a housekeeper for a young family. I was not alone. Two of us were hired to take care of the running of the house, and for a while, I was very happy working with someone else from a similar background.

She had already been working with the same family six months before I joined, so was well-versed in the ways of the family and the job they required us to do.

After some time, my co-worker started to become bossy, controlling everything that I was doing. I soon realized I had become a threat. It reached a point where she became jealous when I held conversations with our employer, and because of that, she would make nasty comments towards me, and accusations of slacking on the job when we were in private. I felt hurt by this, particularly because her comments were untrue.

It reached a point where she began to speak about me to our employer, often sharing negative and disparaging information. After some time, I began to feel a change in my employer’s sentiments towards me. Her interactions with me decreased, and any feedback she had was passed on through my colleague. I can only assume this change happened due to the claims made against me by that same colleague.

I felt rejected. The environment became hostile towards me and there were days when I simply couldn’t see the reason to go on.

In my bed at night I would cry to God in silence. He would remind me that sorrow may last for a night, but joy always comes in the morning. He reminded me that He has great plans for my life. He has everything planned out, and that I should not lose faith or my hope in Him.

He gave me the strength to go on. I found a reason to get out of bed, despite the harsh treatment I endured. I continued to work with my head held high.

God made a way for me to escape the toxic environment I found myself in, in nothing short of a miracle, but that’s another story. What’s important is that He opened a bigger and wider door, one that led me to a new role that brought me so much peace and happiness. During those hard times, I failed to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Looking back, I realize that God had a plan for me all along and that I needed to live through those trials and tribulations to arrive at a better place – where I was meant to be.

I learned that God has my back, no matter the circumstances.

If you find yourself in an unbearable situation, turn to God. Don’t give up. Man will fail you, but God will never.

Always remember to have Hope, No Matter What.
