17 Bible Characters Whose Actions Seemingly Left No Impact

The Bible has covered 66 Scripture books spanning thousands of years. It extensively describes heroes like Abraham, David, and Paul. Yet, it only mentions some people in passing whose roles may seem minor or vague. Some individuals accomplished many great things and performed miracles, but not everyone in the Bible was a leading actor.

These 17 characters were included in God’s plan for humanity, even if their stories weren’t very elaborate.

Methuselah

Methuselah is famous primarily for his long life, which lasted 969 years. Little else is recorded about him apart from that fact.

Lot’s Wife

Known only for looking back at Sodom and turning into a pillar of salt, Lot’s wife warns against disobedience and longing for a sinful past.

Onan

Onan, son of Judah, is best known for his disobedience when he did not fulfill his duty of fathering a child with his brother’s widow after his brother’s death.

Phinehas (Son of Eli)

Phinehas, one of Eli’s wicked sons who engaged in corrupt practices as a priest, exemplifies a lack of integrity in leadership and demonstrates how such sinful conduct has lasting effects on future generations.

Naomi’s Husband, Elimelech

He is briefly mentioned as Naomi’s husband. Due to famine, he took his family to Moab before dying early, forcing Naomi to return to Bethlehem with her daughter-in-law, Ruth.

Korah
